2007-07-16 Terre Haute News, Terre Haute, Indiana Flashpoint: Better use for money designated for missile shield

There is still the gnawing problem of those without insurance for health care, about 47 million.

All of which attests to the great courage of GWB to turn his back on such needs and stick with the usd. 50 billion to usd. 100 billion scheme to transfer funds out of the pockets of the taxpayers into the pockets of the rich, despite the fact that the new Pentagon defense toys will not in the least deter our real enemies. Namely, the jihadists who threaten, in any one of a hundred ways, to sneak into this country suitcase nukes, dirty (radiation) bombs, or biochemical weapons. A missile shield wont do much good against Osamas fatwa for the death of 10 million Americans via the simultaneous destruction of major U. S. cities.

2007-05-12 Prince George Citizen - Wait lists a political creation

The demand for health care is constantly increasing, and one of the tools used by governments to control this increase has been the management of waiting lists. The choice of waiting lists as a management tool falls within the authority of the state (politics). As can be foreseen, managerial choices regarding wait lists may be shortsighted and misguided, causing members of the public to suffer. In effect, wait lists deny real accessibility to everyone to the health system and thereby violate one of the principles of the Canada Health Act. This breach of the Canada Health Act is not condemned politically, but is addressed by politicians as a political reality that has to be tolerated.

2007-04-25 The Journal-Standard - Opinion

I feel that teachers do get fairly paid, they dont need a cut in salary. However, my point is that they should be fully funding their own medical and retirement benefits like the rest of society. My benefits have been cut to the bone. I would like to see teachers go to an 80/20 pct. benefit system where they pay 80 pct. of their medical expenses. This is in keeping with the way corporations run. If they truly care about the students and communities that pay their salaries and much of their expensive benefit packages, they should be willing to take responsibility for their own medical and retirement. This will not impact a childs learning and it will help town budgets so parents dont have to cut out things for their children. After all, so many teachers have said that they dont teach for the money, they teach because they

However, a Supreme Court of Canada decision last year which ruled that the Quebec government couldnt stop patients from purchasing private insurance for health-care procedures provided under medicare, given that the public system often fails to provide service in a timely manner has emboldened private clinic proponents, who believe the decision gives them legal support.
